Acrobatics / Gymnastics Examinations
This is a double certificate examination. For the Grade examination the children have to show exercises with, and tricks such as a hand stand up against a wall, back bend, kneel split toe to head, etc. As the Grades get higher the more tricks they have to perform. Plus they have to show a dance.
For the Medal Test the children will have to show a dance plus a set limbering routine, which is set by the Association.
Tap Examination
Tap is a double certificate examination. This examination is called Stage Grade Syllabus. It is more in depth than any other tap exam. This exam incorporates Modern Dance into the syllabus and Stagecraft, i.e. rhythms. For the exam the children will have to show limbering exercises. They will need to know their Stagecraft, which is about Music and Rhythms.
From Primary they’ll have to show a Modern Dance Routine then put on their tap shoes to show a Tap routine and show the tap steps for that Grade.
Theory is only required from Grade 2, a recent change, but I believe it is good to start them early. For the medal test they will have to show two routines, one set by the Association, the other by me.
